HOW TO ENROLL
Check our course descriptions and dates down below and call us to enroll. All course seat deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
Our school provides both day and evening Ordinary Seaman Program class schedules to accommodate our student’s personal lives. The schedules are as follows:
Day Course: 3 weeks, Mon–Fri, 8 am–5 pm for 3 weeks
Night Course: 6 weeks, Mon–Fri, 6 pm–10 pm for approximately 6 weeks
Program graduates have training that sets them above most of the applicants who they will be competing against for entry-level positions as merchant mariners.
Components of the program include 3 STCW courses, which are United States Coast Guard approved and overseen, and lead to merchant mariner credential endorsements:

- Basic Training (STCW) consists of four different components:
Basic Firefighting: 16 Hours
First Aid and CPR: 8 Hours
Personal Survival Techniques: 12 Hours
Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities: 4 Hours - Vessel Personnel Designated Security Duties (VPDSD): 8 Hours
- Rated Forming Part of the Navigational Watch (RFPNW): 40 Hours
We also include Marlinespike Seamanship, which is imperative for the safety and competency of any seafarer. This course teaches our student's knot tying, line handling, and splicing. The program also includes ship terminology, ship construction, lines, and anchoring.

The four basic modules of this 40-hour course are:
- Personal Survival Techniques (PST)
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR)
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid (CPR & FA)
- Basic Firefighting (BFF)
(Modules are available individually.)
The purpose of this course is to provide training for mariners in personal survival techniques, emergency evolutions, and evacuation procedures. A trainee will be:
- Able to identify and avoid unsafe practices onboard a vessel.
- Able to recognize hazards and apply countermeasures associated with various shipboard emergencies i.e. fire, flooding, floundering, etc.
- Able to give and interpret emergency signals.
- Able to describe the potential problems associated with abandoning ship and crew duties to passengers.
- Be competent in personal survival techniques, fire prevention/fighting, and elementary first aid.
The successful student will be eligible for a US Coast Guard STCW Certificate stating that they have completed Basic Safety Training as mandated by the 1995 STCW Convention. The training provided by this course satisfies the requirements of STCW, Competences Tables A-VI/1-1, 1-2, 1-3, and 1-4.

Call to schedule.
This 24-hour course is for seafarers who have not obtained the requisite 360 days of sea service in the past five years and need Basic Training Refresher training to renew their BST endorsement. It includes a review of PSSR and First Aid and practical assessments for PST and Basic Firefighting. The certificate will state they have met the competency requirements of NMC Policy Letter 14-98 and Tables A-VI/1-1 through 1-4 of the STCW Code.

The purpose of this 40-hour course is to provide training for mariners for a Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch endorsement. This course meets the requirements of NMC Policy Letter 14-02, and the assessments required as part of Table A-II/4 of the STCW Code.
Trainees will know the duties of watchstanding and a helmsman. Students will demonstrate knowledge and demonstrate the fundamentals of standing a proper wheelhouse watch, lookout watch, steps to properly relieve a watch, and marine pollution duties.

This 22-hour course is designed to permit a student who already holds an OUPV License to be upgraded to a Master of an Inspected Vessel of up to 100 Gross Registered Tons upon successful completion of the course. The course is designed to add the different data for licensing requirements between an OUPV license and a Master 100 ton. Extended topics include:

This 44-hour course of instruction is designed to provide to the Able Seaman a training experience that combines formal classroom instruction with actual hands-on performance and demonstration. This training course will impress upon them the importance of identifying and using all available assets to ensure the safety of the crew, cargo, and vessel.
Candidates who successfully complete this course will satisfy the written examination and demonstration of ability requirements of 46 CFR 12.405(b) for any Able Seaman endorsement.

This course satisfies the Advanced Firefighting training requirements of STCW Code Section A-VI/3 and 46 CFR 11.201(h), and 11.303(a). Upon meeting the minimum standard of competence in advanced firefighting, a trainee will be competent to take command, organize and train fire parties, and control firefighting operations. The seafarer will have acquired knowledge of fire prevention and an ability to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment. He/she will also be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fire.

- Basic Firefighting per 46 CFR 11.201(h)(2) [Basic only} and CFR 46 11.201(h)(3)
- The firefighting requirements for a national tankerman endorsement in 46 CFR 13.201©(3), 13.301©(3); 13.401(d); and 13.501(c)(3).

Successful completion of the 8-hour First Aid and CPR course satisfies:
- The Basic Safety-Elementary First Aid training requirements of Table A-VI/1-3 of the STCW Code, as amended
- The Elementary First Aid training requirements of CFR 46 11.302(a)(3) and 46 CFR 12.602(A)(#) and
- The First Aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(i)(1)(i).

- The Leadership and Managerial Skills within 46 CFR 11.305; 46 CFR 11.307: 46 CFR 11.311; 46 CFR11.313; 46CFR 11.315; 46 CFR 11.317; 46 CFR 11.325; 46 CFR 11.327; 46 CFR 11.331; 46 CFR 11.333; and the specific tasks found in NVIC 15-14 (Tasks 7.1.D, 11.1.A); and NVIC 16-14 (Task 14.1.A).

This includes taking responsibility for the safety of the vessel and passengers.

This 32-hour course covers the requirements of the 2010 STCW Convention Chapter VI, Section A-VI/2, table A-VI/2-1. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats, a trainee will be competent to operate life-saving appliances and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during or after launch. They will also be able to operate a survival craft engine and manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning the ship. Trainees will know the correct use of all locating devices, including communications and signaling apparatus and pyrotechnics, how to apply first aid to survivors, and the actions to take to preserve the life of those in their charge.

Students who successfully complete this 40-hour course, including successful demonstration of all practical assessments, will satisfy the requirements of 46 CFR 11.480(d) for an endorsement as Radar Observer (Unlimited) and the radar training requirements of Section A-II/1 and Table A-II/1 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010 for certification as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on vessels of 500 or more gross tonnage (ITC).

This 16-hour course was developed to meet the STCW training requirements for the Ship Security Officer.
Students who successfully complete this course will satisfy the training requirements of 33 CFR 104.215(d)(1)(iv) and STCW Code Section A-VI/5 for an endorsement as Vessel Security Officer.
