Description

Basic Training Revalidation

The Basic Training Revalidation Course is essential for experienced seafarers to maintain compliance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978, as amended, Section A-VI/1, and the U.S. Coast Guard requirements under 46 CFR Part 11 and Part 12. All mariners must revalidate their Basic Training endorsement every five years unless they can demonstrate at least 360 days of sea service within that period. The course ensures that seafarers remain proficient in critical safety competencies, keeping their knowledge and practical skills up to date to effectively respond to emergencies at sea.

The revalidation program focuses on refreshing and reassessing the core BT modules:

· Personal Survival Techniques (PST) [STCW Table A-VI/1-1] – reviewing survival skills, abandon-ship drills, and use of lifesaving appliances.

· Fire Prevention and Firefighting (FPFF) [STCW Table A-VI/1-2] – renewing competence in controlling, containing, and extinguishing fires onboard.
