This simulator-based assessment session is designed to meet the requirements of STCW Code Section A II/4 for Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW) at the support level.
Description
This simulator-based assessment session is designed to meet the requirements of STCW Code Section A II/4 for Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW) at the support level. It provides participants with the opportunity to complete all necessary practical assessments, demonstrating competency in performing navigational watch duties required for RFPNW certification.
To be eligible, participants must have:
o 180 days (8-hour days) of sea service, with a minimum of 90 days on vessels over 200 GRT
o STCW Basic Safety Training has been completed or revalidated within the last five years.
All of the following tasks will be assessed and signed off by a Qualified Assessor:
Tasks: 1.1.A, 1.1.B, 1.1.C, 1.2.A, 1.2.B, 1.2.C, 1.2.D, 1.2.E, 1.2.F, 1.2.G, 1.2.H, 1.2.1, 1.3.A, 1.3.B, 2.1.A, 2.1.B, 2.1.C, 3.1.A, 3.2.A, 3.3.A, 3.3.B, 3.4.A, 3.4.B, 3.5.A, 3.5.B, 3.6.A1, 3.6.B1.
Key Information
o Assessments can be completed in this simulator session or onboard a vessel of appropriate size under a Qualified Assessor.
o This session is not an approved course and does not grant sea service credit; it is for assessment completion only.
o Sea service must be obtained separately to qualify for the RFPNW endorsement.
o USCG Requirement: Tasks 3.6. A, and 3.6.B must be performed onboard a vessel and cannot be completed in simulation. Alternative tasks, 3.6.A1 and 3.6.B1, will be conducted in this session and documented in the student’s Record of Assessment.
